While there is plenty of data available on 'bolt on' turbochargers in the 3-400BHP bracket, less comparable data exists for turbos in the 4-500BHP range. We decided to test various turbo configurations, starting with the FP Green, on one of our own shop cars.
This particular car runs one of our own built 2L short engines but utilizes standard heads (without variable cam timing), cams and cam timing to give more comparative results. The car is also equipped with our Twin Dump 3" exhaust system, exhaust manifold and FMIC. The ECU is a GEMS unit offering full 'live' control. The SM FP Green pumped out a stunning 461BHP coupled with 415LBFT. Out on the road 1 Bar boost is achieved at 3300rpm, 1.8 Bar at 3700rpm! The FP Green offers superb response for a 450BHP turbo. If fitted to a new age STi with AVCS then you could expect the above figures to drop by several hundred rpm, couple that with one of our 2.5L motors and it would be difficult keeping it off boost :) The FP Green is also over £300 cheaper than it's rivals. Go Green! We are due back on the dyno testing another version of the Green turbo in the next week, once these tests are completed we will move on to the mighty FP Red. All tests are to be carried out on the same car with no other spec alterations in order to give valid comparison data.
